Interview with Eden Hevroni

Ceramic and design are always a very interesting combination, especially when it comes to working with porcelain and clay. Interview with Eden Hevroni about inspiration and bringing it to shape with porcelain.

How does such a dialogue arise? What inspires you?

As a designer, I get my inspiration from listening to my heart, there are many things that I found every day that make me move, things such as: old scent, unclear shape, animal dancing. I'm trying to realize the dialog between.

How do you proceed when you have found the first step, the “topic”?

When I am finding my topic, I'm starting to collect a lot of things to a one inspiration board that can help me with my design. My inspiration board can be sometimes funny, Because I'm taking things that also need to inspire me scent, and how can you put scent on one board that even never mixes before?

How do you implement this idea in a ceramic way?

My hands listen to my heart and carving in plaster to get the first shape for making a mold. I'm also working with the program SOLIDWORKS. In Bezalel Academic I'm teaching my students how this program can help them to get the perfect shape that they wish for.

You work with ceramic bodies and with white and black porcelain. Where do you get these bodies from? Do you process the bodies plastically or do you cast most pieces?

I'm casting many pieces to one full shape.

Porcelain is material that can help me to make complex shapes, but if I don’t listen to him he will control me back, as a designer you have to choose your correct porcelain to work and I find that "Audrey Blackman" working the best for me.

Do you implement everything yourself from the idea to the finished product or do you have other workshops which support you?

In my studio I'm doing everything by myself - one woman show. From modelling shapes to shipping my final design to my clients.

Which body would you like to get for future projects which you haven’t still found up to now?

Today during my M.A in industrial design I'm working to design a cosmetic series like cream, perfume, and makeup in porcelain shape. It will not be a conventional shape like we know because I will build them from many pieces of porcelain.
